Dr Bruce, you packed SO much info into 15 quick minutes, I wrote it all down and it's morning, so I'll decide which 2-3 habits to start today and especially thanks for describing the effects of alcohol on sleep. I'm not a regular drinker, but sometimes friends have wine or beer so I join in. And especially thanks for the insight of Magnesium in the banana peel, who knew?? I'll try my first banana tea tonight and one thought to perhaps suggest, I've learned from experience. If you're going to read a book read someing BORING, don't read a page turner novel, I would read a Jack Reacher novel, look up and it's 1 am, how did that happen? AND, it's hard to put down! SO, I read something intentionally boring and it makes me sleepy. ;D

He warns that you increase your risk of DYING on a ketogenic diet by a whopping 30%. Dr. Mercola says that your brain NEEDS carbs and if it doesn’t get them you will go into a coma and DIE! I agree with much of what you said. But where we have our big disagreement is about the importance of vegetables and fiber. Meat has far more nutrients than veg, and they are bioavailable. Vegetables and grains have a lot of antinutrients and toxins. Meat doesn’t. People are literally reversing cancer tumors and putting MS into remission, curing serious psychological diseases, eliminating anxiety, and completely reversing diabetes on carnivore. You will be hearing a lot more about it

Not 💯 true. Different doctors have different views. Oxidative cholesterol & fat from meat, dairy, cheese, eggs: Studies show tao plaques in brain are caused by this, not bread or low fat, natural foods. Whole wheat, veggies, fruits have been banned by keto crazies. Thanks doctor for this🍉🍌🥑🍞😊

@@JumpstylA78 I know that is the conventional wisdom, but it doesn't appear to be true. Search for the National Library of Medicine article "A short history of saturated fat: the making and unmaking of a scientific consensus." It is a dry medical journal article, but if you just read the first few sections through "Key Points" to get an idea of what the paper is about and how it is that we came to believe that cholesterol causes heart disease. It actually is absolutely necessary for proper functioning of our bodies. If we don't eat enough of it, our body makes the rest.

    • @olivia8979

@@zenawarrior7442 It is glucose that glycates every cell in our body causing oxidated stress. Search for the National Library of Medicine journal article "A short history of saturated fat: the making and unmaking of a scientific consensus" ... the first few sections through "key points" to get an idea of where that theory came from. It is a theory. there has never been any study that has PROVEN that cholesterol causes heart disease. There have only been studies showing correllations. the paper I cited above is published by our own government about the studies that went into the diet-heart hypothesis.

There is no credible evidence whatsoever to show red meat that is not highly processed cause inflammation. Red meat is the least inflamamtory food there is. Of course cured meats and meat in prepared sauces can increase inflammation but it's the sugar in the cure/sauce causing it, not the meat. Agree with most of this video except most of the carnivore info and vegan/vegitarian info.

cbt should not be recommended as a cover all like it currently is. the widespread adoption of the method has pushed out individual care and strategies. something like somatic therapy validates feelings instead of basically saying “you are 100% in control of your thought patterns” when that’s not necessarily true

Actually vaping is the healthiest way to consume cannabis flower. I repeat, cannabis flower; not some labs formulation. I use a volcano vaporizer and typically use about 1/4 tsp of cannabis which I inhale from a balloon. I have found the best time to consume it is about 4 hours before bedtime. I am 68 years old and it definitely helps me with pain and quality of sleep. So far, after using it for about 50 years, it has not led to harder drugs as some Senators seem to think (Republican Pete Sessions of Texas for example).

I do wake up at 3:40 4 am almost every morning regardless of how tired I am when I go to bed. So it could be too much B12. Where do you get the smaller doses you are referring to?

Hi doc! I once commented on your YTshorts saying that I am getting very less sleep(intentionally) because of exams. And now my sleep schedule is horrible (that's what I think), I don't fall asleep before 2am (on average), and when I do fall asleep I wake up at like 9 or 10 which is really frustrating because missing my mornings makes it harder to achieve daily goals. I have tried the ' MILITARY METHOD TO FALL ASLEEP' and 'ASMR' from RUclips and it does help (slightly), but its still not getting any better. last night I slept at around 1:30ish am, which has become my new average (which is better then 2am), and sometimes I sleep at 1 (thanks to nice quality asmr). Its summer vacations so i am not worried about school now but my goal of waking up early for ealy morning workout seems unachievable now (i have been into fitness lately, used to workout and stuff in evening, now planning to do some in the morning ^_^). My goal is to sleep at around 10:30/11pm so I can wake up at 5:30/6am. there aren't any somnologists in my area so I am reaching out to you, getting a reply would be such a pleasure for me ^_^

Pain causes depression and insomnia. Insomnia causes depression, depression causes insomnia, and lack of sleep is also caused by the pain.
